Does Sound Check get entered in the History?

I installed my 7 new Nest Protect Gen 2 units in my house a couple of days ago and ran a test that came back A-OK. In the middle of the night, I was awoken by a pair of chirps from the unit in my bedroom, but there was no colored light and no notification on my phone. I have the Nest app installed; all of the units are connected to my account and listed in the app.

Was that a Sound Check that happened in the middle of the night? I don’t see a record of it in the History for any of the units. Is Sound Check even recorded in the History, or does it happen without leaving a record of the event?

I did have Sound Check turned on in the preferences, and I had chosen the Midday time frame. I’ve now turned Sound Check off, because I don’t want that to ever happen again.

One of the main reasons I bought Nest Protect is that I don’t want my smoke detectors to make noise in the middle of the night unless there’s an emergency. I have been looking forward to getting notifications on my phone about things like battery replacement. Getting jarred awake by horn chirps in the middle of my very first night with the Nest Protect was not, I must say, a great experience.

Hi StC,

Thanks for posting here in Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I'd love to take a look at this for you.

A few questions:

  • Was there any sudden change in humidity right before the alarm went off? You may do a Google search for weather history in the zip and/or postal code and include relative humidity readings for the day of the alarm.
  • How long did the alarm go off?
  • Did all Nest Protect devices in the house sound off during the event?

I'll look forward to your response.

Best,

Zoe
