Hello Door bell

How does one connect the Hello doorbell to your Google home max?  I want to see who is at my front door without accessing my phone.

As long as they're on the same Google account that should show up in the Google home app  automatically once you've signed in.  If the device is reset up using different accounts you would have to join the accounts together as a family or reset up one of the devices under the other account.

In the Google Nest app , have you gone to your Nest Hello doorbell, and then gone into Settings, to Visitor Announcements and turned on Visitor Announcements?

We had the same problem today. After about 3 hours working on it we determined the following:

  • Make sure that both your doorbell and Google Max are on the same account (as stated above by a responder). This is SO IMPORTANT. 

  • Look to see if either of the products are the last in the listing and show up as a slightly different heading  - Local Devices. This is key. If an item is a Local Device you won’t be able to see the video on your Google Max because the device is under another account.  I know this seems weird bc you are seeing it under your account but trust me it’s somehow under a different account if it shows up as a Local Device.  In fact you can do anything with the device if it shows as a Local Device.
  • if it shows as a Local Device try taping the icon with your picture or Google symbol with your initial on it that is in the top right when you open the Google home page. If there’s another account there you might find the doorbell or Google Max under there and be able to control it. 

  • you might need to even check under the Nest app if any product is a Local Device and you had that app for any reason. 

  • Once you get both the doorbell and the Google Max products under the same home and neither shows as a Local Device then it works perfectly. 

  • check all setting on the Google Max to make sure they are correct - basically Yes to everything - and the video pops up.
