Hello, I recently purchased a nest protect smoke/co alarm. I set it up in the nest app and all seemed well. I then thought about how I can share the device and notifications with my fiancé. Upon researching it seemed i needed to download the Google home app and add her there as well as the nest protect. I added her in the Google home app without issue but I can’t get the nest and Google home apps to sync and add the device to the Google home app. When I click on add device it can’t find the nest protect. I used my Google account to sign up with nest. How can I get it so we both get notified if there’s an emergency

Nest Protects are not supported by Google Home. They claim "theyre working on it " and will have that feature "soon" but from the communications we're seeing, its not likely to happen.
You would have to use the Nest app for these smoke detectors. The notifications of alarms for me have also been delayed or nonexistent on my phone.
I would return these before the return window expires.

In the nest app it literally says you have to set it up in the home app to share access with other people. Why does it say that if you can’t even do it? This is ridiculous.

We appreciate you getting back to us. I understand your confusion. However, you need to use the Nest app for setting up your Nest Protect and if you need to share it with your family member, you should use the Google Home app if you already migrated your account. I understand that but I’m not sure how to do that which was the whole purpose of this post. The instructions I’ve found online are not working for me

This is not really a possible solution. If the protect is only in the NEST app, why will sharing the HOME with others let them access notifications for the nest app? Do not close this thread.

I don't see how this is helpful. Have you read the contents of this thread? In the first message in the thread, they stated they tried setup in the nest app.

Hi folks,
I understand and appreciate your insights about this matter. You can submit your feedback for this through the form given by Emerson above, since we don't yet have a timeframe for when the Nest Protect will be available through the Google Home app. However, to still share your Nest Protect with your other family members, you can log in to your Nest account on their device so that they can also have access to the Nest.

Again. Do not lock. The questions have gone unanswered and the feedback form is an insult to your customers at this point with empty claims that the issue is actually getting worked on.

Do not lock this thread. Issue is not resolved. That feedback form does nothing, ive used it. Please answer Zackwbutler's questions and instruct how to actually setup the Nest Protect l, even 8f 8t needs to be in the Nest app.
