We have a Nest Protect Gen. 2 in our entryway and our bedroom. Every time I cook steaks, they both go off. And sometimes they won't even let me silence them after a couple minutes. How can I disable them while cooking?

Hi @Brenkj
You can silence them using the button on the device or an easier method is using the app. You cannot "pre-silence" or "disable" them before the event occurs. To prevent false alarms, ensure your Protects are at least 10 feet from cooking appliances, use good ventilation (fans/windows) and enable the steam check feature in the app,

Thanks for the response. Steam Check is already enabled, and the Protects are in good locations. But both of our downstairs Protects still alarm every time I sear steaks. Two nights ago, the system wouldn't even let me silence them. If there's no way to temporarily disable them, I may have to switch to a different product.
