I am seriously considering buying a Nest Protect for my house, but I cannot use screws in my ceiling. At the moment, I have some other, cheap, smoke and co-detectors that I mounted with magnets (one with double sided tape to attach to the ceiling), which works like a charm. Would the NP be too heavy for that, is it designed to have a magnet mount it? I'm considering this 3M version: https://www.rookmeldershop.nl/magneet-montageset-rookmelder

Hi @Mailwoman
Not sure what is the maximum allowed weight for the magnets but I know the devices itself are not that exceptional heavy. So I think you would be fine.
If you check THIS link you what the weight is.
