Nest Protect CO false positive Heads-Up alarms

Hi,

Has anyone else had an experience where one Nest Protect unit gives a false positive CO Heads-Up.

We installed  one on each floor of our second home (top floor, middle floor and ground floor) and the middle floor one gives a Heads-Up warning sporadically, sometimes when there's no one in the house (and hasn't been for a few weeks) and always at night, when the only possible source of CO in the whole property, the gas combi-boiler, is not operational .

I've bought another CO alarm and placed it beside the Nest Protect and this has never gone off. I've also had the plumber who fitted the boiler out to see it and recently had the gas company to come and check if this has anything to do with them, neither of which can think of any reason apart from a faulty Nest Protect product.

I've asked Nest customer support but have found to date that I get no response from them, let alone any help or support

Any clues about this would be great as I'm getting a little fed up of being woken by this (whether at the property or when away by the app) and am now considering that I've bought a pretty poor system and cutting my losses and getting rid of the Nest system altogether

Thanks in advance

Graham

Yup, I'm having the same problem.  I have six NESTs.  A month ago, one started giving false CO warnings.  I removed it.  Just yesterday, another one.  I agree with you, they are a poor system.  I'm thinking of replacing them all with Kidde alarms.

Hello folks,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused. I understand that it's a matter of health and safety, and I appreciate all the steps taken on this.

I wanted to ensure that everything was covered here. Have you both tried the Safety Checkup on this guide? Please let us know the status, and we'll look forward to your response.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Mark

Not sure what happened there but I replied to this last week.

In short, I’ve run the checks sporadically for the last few years but not slavishly once a month (as the property is a second home). I ran them again when you emailed me and it was reported all was fine.

I’m UK based but am having no success getting any response from Nest Tech dept or customer service. Who would you recommend I contact?

Regards

Graham

Hello Graham63,

I'm sorry for the late reply. I know it's been awhile, but I wanted to see how your Nest Protect is doing so far. Is it still doing a CO heads-up or a false alarm? Let us know so we can assist you right away.

Thanks,

Mark
