Google announced that the Nest Protect is discontinued and will be replaced by a compatible device from First Alert that will interface with the Original Nest Protects and be controlled by Google Home. You need to use the First Alert App to install and configure it.

Another product that Google has discontinued, but at least there is a suitable replacement.  Looks very similar from the back.

Is sounds like it's not available globally only US.  So it's essentially dead everywhere else.

I just bought a pair of new best protects, whilst I still can. One has 9 years, one 8.5 years.  Not great, but better than nothing.

That's the end of my Google Home purchases. Its been a truly awful experience. I'll retire my Nest cameras, smoke detector goes in 2027 anyway and it's only a matter of time before my Nest thermostat gets replaced. Think it's time to move away from the whole Google Eco System

First alarm isn't supported in the UK which isn't great when Google have deprecated the nest Protect
