Nest Protect (Gen 2) unable to connect to Wifi after factory reset P005

Hi friends,

I have three Nest Protects (Gen 2) that have been working for a number of years. I recently replaced all my networking equipment and am attempting to add them to the new network. I have factory reset the devices, but whenever I try to add the device via the Nest iOS app it lists the WiFi network but then fails to connect with the error code P005(4072).

Things I have tried:

  • Set the network to 2.4 GHz only.
  • Restarted the router (Ubiquiti).
  • Ensured the Nest app is up to date.
  • Restarted my phone.

Is there anything else that you can suggest for me to try? I need to order a fourth Protect, but I am holding off until I can ensure that I can get these working.

Hi everyone,

Thanks for reaching out here in the Community. We hear you and we wanted to help you with this.

Give these steps a try:

  1. Ensure the device is awake and in ready mode.
  2. Make sure Bluetooth is on. Turn Bluetooth off, then back on to refresh the connection.
  3. Put the mobile device on airplane mode, then turn on Bluetooth and Wi-Fi.
  4. Quit and restart the Nest or Google Home app.
  5. Restart the phone or tablet.
  6. Move all devices being used for pairing closer to the router.
  7. Restart the router.
  • When setting up multiple Nest Protects they should be placed on a table near your Wifi router.
  • Perform a reset to factory default.
  • While pairing they should have a blue light pulsing, indicating that they are ready to be set up. If not, just press it one time.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,

Emerson
