Nest Protect Light Ring Error

Hello, since a power failure occurred 3 weeks ago, my 120v Nest Protect reset itself and the Nest app reports a "Light Ring Failure" error which prevents the device from being used. 

After several reset trials and replacing the batteries, nothing changed while the app recommandation is to replace the device.

It's a 2021 Protect that have been bought and  installed only 4 years ago, which is supposed to last until 2031.

Google: will you send a new one please?

Thank you for contacting the community! I understand that since the power outage three weeks ago, your Nest Protect now only shows the 'Light Ring Failure' error in the Nest app when it self-resets. I really appreciate you trying the troubleshooting steps, including resetting and changing the batteries.

To ensure I provide you with the most accurate troubleshooting steps, I'd like to ask you the following questions:

  • What type of batteries are you using for the Nest Protect?
  • What color is the light you see on the device?
  • You mentioned you reset the device; could you please explain how you performed the reset?
  • What is the Nest Protect's software version?

In the interim, I'd like to offer some troubleshooting steps. Please share the results with me once you've tried them.

  • Ont the Nest Protect:
    • Press the Nest button on a Protect. The blue light should turn on, and it speaks to you.
    • When it says, Press to test, press the button a second time.
  • With the Nest app on a phone or tablet:
    • Sign into the customer’s account in the app.
    • Select Nest Protect on the home screen.
    • Tap Checkup at the bottom of the screen.

Keep me in the loop and feel free to share any additional details you think might be relevant.
