Nest Protect Sensor Failure

Have had Nest Protect for just under 2 years. Have taken apart and cleaned but still chirping. Local supplier said it only had a one year warranty. This is ridiculous for a product that says on it to replace 2029. 

What should I do?

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I’m sorry to hear about the situation. I’d like to take a look at this for you. 

 

What type of Nest Protect do you have? Also, please perform a Safety Checkup test on your Nest Protect by pressing the Nest button on a Protect. The blue light should turn on and it will speak to you, then when it says "Press to test", press the button a second time.

Hi there,

Thank you for being in touch and my apologies for not getting back to you sooner.
We have spent the last week without batteries inside it and have just retested. 
It now appears to be working. 
The issue we were having before it was saying Smoke Sensor Problem although when I did the test it would say "Everything looks fine". 
I vacuumed out the sensors, etc. But it would continue to beep. 
We have had a LOT of rain over the last few weeks and I'm wondering if the abundance of moisture may have been a problem? 
Either way, everything is working today. 
It is a Nest Protect but I couldn't tell you what model. It was purchased in June 2021
