Nest Protect, blinks yellow despite app saying everything is ok

I had to reboot my Wi-Fi routers a week ago.  Afterwards, everything came back online and reconnected (Nest doorlocks, thermostats, etc.) except my Nest Protect.  They all blinked yellow, and app indicated they're not connected.  After trying everything, I've decided to remove all Nest Protect units (12 of them in our home) from my Nest app, and manually reset them by holding down the button for 10+seconds.

I have then added them back to my account, one by one.

The app now says they're all green (OK).  App says they were last checked 3 minutes ago for Wi-Fi and battery, and everything is green.

However, when I push a button on any of the Nest Protect units, they still blink yellow, stating "Heads Up, Nest Protect is offline downstairs in the Hallway, and upstairs.  Ready"

I've spent a good part of the day resetting them and setting them up, so I'm baffled why the app states they're all fine (last checked 3 minutes ago), but units continue to blink yellow when the lights go dark.

Hello

I didn't delete the home, but removed all Nest devices from the app, I did a reset on each one, installed a better router and all problems have at this moment been solved (no yellow light anymore).

Hi @gordon-nyc-79,

Thank you for posting in the community. I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing Wi-Fi connectivity inconveniences with your Nest Protect devices after rebooting your routers. I'm happy to assist you.

To better understand why this is happening, please provide the information requested below:

  • Are your Nest Protect devices battery-powered or wired?
  • Besides rebooting your Wi-Fi routers, are there any previous events with Nest Protect, such as false or legitimate alarms, chirps, or other unexpected behavior?
  • Are there any nearby sources of steam, smoke, or any other visible vapor?
  • Where are the Nest Protect devices installed (room, ceiling, or wall)?
  • When did you purchase your Nest Protect devices?

In the meantime, I recommend replacing the batteries of your devices. The blinking yellow lights indicate a potential battery issue, as detailed in the article Nest Protect lights and sounds.

Please keep me posted.

Regards,

Anders

Hi AndersC,

I will delete the "home" in the app and install with a new name. Perhaps the problem is solved. I will inform you !

With the new router I saw also the connection established so I was pretty sure it would work.
