I would recommend people avoid the Nest Protect as it will cost a fortune in batteries. You would be lucky to have batteries last a month and it takes a lot of batteries.
It is a known issue that google/nest has refused to fix and refuse to provide working replacements for those who have wasted their money on this product.
While all my other Nest products work well, Nest not recalling or fixing these failed products makes me hesitant to purchase more products.
Highly recommend people avoid Nest Protect unless they have a source for free batteries and don't mind replacing them every 2 to 4 weeks.

I have 2 of these and have had to replace the batteries only once since I got them in late 2021. I used lithium batteries....are you using regular alkaline?

Yes the only reason I have had to change them was due to first using alkaline

I have mine running for almost 2 years now on the same batteries that came with the unit, no issues. I have 2 of them.
