Yeah its hard to say, when they first announced that it was on the public preview it took me like a couple months before it finally showed up in my google home.

I thought that the Nest Protects appearing in the Google Home app was only for people on public preview. You can try to join and see if they show up on your wife's phone. Just as a test.

Go into Settings->Public Preview, you can see if you are part of it or not.If it says Leave Public preview in the bottom then you are already a part of it.
