Nest Protect in EV-only garage

jamieb

We have two EVs in our attached garage and have no intention of buying any gas cars in the future.

I'd like to add a Nest Protect in the garage to detect any fires from electrical issues with either the charging circuit or the cars; not worried about gas fires or CO from a car left running. Where we live the garage can get quite hot in the summer (110-115°F for a few hours in the afternoon). I'm okay with it shortening the life of the Nest Protect, but want to know if that kind of heat will generate false alarms or decrease its sensitivity in the long term?

I'm not sure the Nest protect sets of an alarm for heat, only for smoke or CO2 I thought. Would be great to hear otherwise.

Hey jamieb,

I wanted to follow up with you and see if you still needed any help? Please let me know, if you have any questions about the protect, as I would be more than happy to take a closer look.

Best regards,

Jake
