Nest Protect in the post-Secure era: using Ring and a co-listener?

I am dismayed that Google is abandoning its Secure alarm system, and doubly dismayed that no one seems to mention the main consequence of this: that Nest Protect smoke and CO monitors will no longer be able to connect to any professional home monitoring service. This is a huge problem. Even if you think you can monitor your home by phone when you away, it is more likely than not your insurance company doesn't think that way. Mine requires professional monitoring of a smoke alarm system for the home. Nest Protect will not work with the ADT system Google suggests or with any alarm system except the one Google is eliminating. As far as i can see, the only alternative might be switching to a Ring system with their alarm listening device. I am interested if anyone has tried this.
