After only 3 years my nest protect is not working. When we replace the batteries they don't even last 24 hours. The device starts beeping (so annoying) and according to the bottom of the device it says it has expired? How can it be expired after only 3 years - a device I paid $149 for! This is just not acceptable! What are my options? We have tried a factory reset and this did not work!

So the expiry and the battery life are two seperate issues. For the batteries, what exactly are you putting in the device? For the expiry, it's ten years from manufacture date, not install date, and that's due to the materials used for detection. I just installed my protects in June and they expire October 2030 according to the technical info on the thermostat. This might be something you need to bring up with the retailer you purchased from.
