Nest Protect no wifi connection.

I have the Nest Protect, 2 of them and discovered they were not connected to the Wifi.  After I replaced the router that is when I discovered they lost the connection.

I hit the button on the device and it says " Checking the Wifi..." then a blue light appears going in a circle.

On my phone, I use the App to try to connect to it so I can change the Wifi settings and I get nothing. I can't connect to the Protect using my phone in order to update the wifi settings.

On my phone, I removed the App and installed it again.  I turned off the wifi and turned it on again.

I don't understand why is so complicated to update the wifi settings on these devices.

I have exactly the same issue, did you find a solution yet?

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry to hear about your experience on your Nest Protect. To confirm, Have you tried resetting your Nest Protect to the factory default? You may also try creating a new home structure and add the Nest Protect there.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,
Emerson

I tried the reset of both my Nest Protect sensors and that sorted it, but did mean I lost all my history as they were treated as new devices. They grabbed the new wifi settings from my Nest doorbell.

Just an update.  I had upgraded my Synology router to a new model.  After doing that, it didn't occur to me- right away- that my NPs were not connected to the Wi-Fi.  Using a phone (no SIM card)  just Wi-Fi only, I connected it to my new router then I had to perform a factory reset on both of the NPs in order to join them to the new Wi-Fi.

When you replace the router or change the Wi-Fi settings, the user should be able to update the settings without performing any resets.  It is time consuming and unnecessary.   Otherwise, all good.
