The Nest Protect is not compatible with the Google Home App at this time.

Google Home does not support the Nest Protect. They have made no statement that indicates it may be a future feature.

If you are still able to return the detectors, I would recommend doing so as it seems Google has no real interest in continuing development of the Nest Protect.

Hey folks,

I appreciate your response, Patrick_Caezza.

DanCoco, sorry if you feel that way. Our long term plan is to use the Google Home app as the one place you can control all of your favorite Nest and other smart home devices, as well as Google Assistant. In the near future, we will allow users to set up previous Nest devices and have full control in the Home app.

Tclopes, I'm checking in if everything is good to go here. Let us know if you have more questions in mind.

Best,

Melba

Melba,

Thanks for your reply. I don't think everything will be good to go until Nest Protects are visible in Google Home and restore all past functionality once available in the Nest app over 3 years ago.

Hi Melba,

Thanks for reaching out. I have to agree with DanCoco. I’m new to all of this and it’s pretty frustrating that Google is advertising Nest Products that are either don’t show in the Nest App (Cameras) or don’t show in the google home. You mentioned that this integration would be happening in the near future, any rough idea when that is? From what I’ve seen it’s been a couple of years and no progress.

Just in case anyone at Google sees this (hint: your customers do not feel seen.) The lack of software updates with even minor integrations over time, and zero responses or vaguebook responses from Google on features or even a simple timeline. (I.e. Next year, development can start after the Matter standard is released, etc.)

It's been years Google, hearing "SOON" sounds like it's responding to a honey-do list...

At this rate, will Google even still sell the products it hasnt integrated? I mean, even if the plan is to just develop new products or generations of them that do work in Google Home, just say so.  But stop marketing existing products for sale as working with Home.
