Nest Protect "Offline" after installing new router

mrbags

Hello.  I recently replaced a router in my home and i'm trying to update my nest smoke/carbon detectors since they are now "offline".  I go into setting and choose one of the devices and click wifi connection to update.  The detector flashes blue and tries to connect but nothing ends up happening.

Is there a work around to updating the settings?  thank you.

Hey darkerjustin,

I am sorry to hear you are also running into the issue with your Protect showing offline. Let's jump in and see if we can get you up and running. I did find a helpful article with some troubleshooting steps. Please let me know if that helps, or if you are still having connectivity issues. .

Best regards,

Jake

Thanks for replying.

I decided to restore all my Nest Protects to factory settings as l couldn’t even connect to them at all.

Now l can connect to them via my phone using the Nest app but l get a message with this error code: p005(4072)

The Nest Protect can’t connect to my wifi but l’m not sure how to resolve that.

I have a Deco M5 as the router. 2.4ghz & 5ghz enabled, IPv6 enabled and UPnP enabled.

What exactly does that error code mean?

Thanks.

Managed to sort this myself.

It turns out to connect the Nest Protects to wifi you have to connect to the main Deco M5 unit i.e the one you set as the router. After doing a factory reset then placing my Nest Protect near my router Deco M5 it all connected no problem.

Now l’m all back setup. 👍
