Nest Protect too sensitive

Andrija

My Nest Protect Gen 2 is too sensitive, and often goes off. It is located about 2 meters away from cooking appliances, and I can’t change it’s position right now, is there a way to make the likelihood of it going off less likely? I have turned on all of the settings that should help it determine if I’m home or not, but it still seems to go off. There is a delay on the app for the silencing part, so sometimes I’m forced to silence it physically as there is no option coming up on the phone for about a minute. It’s a shame that the wave to silence feature isn’t supported anymore, because my mother can’t silence the alarm herself, and waving would have made that easier..

first thing I would do is make sure steam check is turned ON. This will make the Nest check to make sure it is steam before sounding an alarm. Also I would turn on heads up. That way the alarm isn’t blaring and you get a warning. Outside of that there isn’t much you can do. Nest protect is designed to be very sensitive so it can save lives. Nest states it should be 10 feet away from appliances in the kitchen.
