Nest Protect without app - how to turn off night light/guiding light

Danny567

I don't have a mobile phone through choice. So I did not use the App to set up my Nest Protect.  I have put my Nest Protect on my bedroom ceiling but it keeps on providing a nightlight whenever there is movement, when I don't want it to do so.   It is very disturbing during the night.  How do I turn it off?  I think it is idiotic that the default isn't "off" but there you go.  Any advice?  Thanks.

Hi @Danny567

I don't know of a way to change the Pathlight settings without using the app. If you don't have a smart phone you could install the Home app on an iPad or Android tablet or a Chromebook with app capabilities.

The current Nest web browser doesn't have further settings.

Go to home.nest.com on a browser.

Log into your account.

Click on the Protect icon.

Click on the gear in the upper right corner.

Select the Protect you want to modify.

Turn the Pathlight option off.
