Google home protect product without the need for nest app ?

markcarline

Over the next 6-12 months I plan to replace our smoke detectors with wired (for power) smoke detectors due the need for one of our rooms (in a room) to be interlinked (UK building control requirement).

I'm really liking the new wireless google door bell and the fact that it seems to fully integrate with the google home app but when I look at the current Nest Protect products there seems to be a need to use the Nest app for the setup and then some kind of "works with" integration to then see the products in the google home app.

I wonder if there are any thoughts if google will be release an "out of the box" smoke detector range which just works with google home (and no need for the nest app).

Thoughts?  I am wondering if I jump in now and get the Nest Protect range or wait 6-12 months for anything new which might be around the corner.

Thanks in advance 🙂

Google haven't made any announcements in this space and I've not seen anything related but agreed that would be a nice improvement.
