Nest alarm triggered

Hi all,

I’m still shaking over this, anyone have an idea of what could have caused it to happen. Early this morning my Nest Protect smoke/carbon monoxide alarm started alerting to smoke in the bedroom and was warning it was about to start and it would be loud. I was woken out of a deep sleep but thankfully found the off switch. There is no smoke in the apartment.  No alert in the Nest app either is showing this activity. I’ve had the Nest Protect for years and this has never happened.

I am going out of town soon and am horrified at the mess it would have been with alarm going off with my pet at home and Fire Department breaking in (sitter would not have been here early morning).   So now my trust in this product is gone and I can’t leave it on when going away or ever.

Do these devices just suddenly go haywire for anyone else? Are the old fashioned smoke alarms simply more reliable?

Update, the device went off multiple times this morning with a smoke alert after I pressed the button to stop it, so I had to remove the batteries. It is useless now.

If it is one specific alarm then it could be faulty , I would suggest contacting support.  My "dumb" alarms did the same thing before I switched over to nest protects...it happens sadly!

Thanks for your reply, appreciate it. I will see what Google says, this is the only Nest product in my home.

Honestly it will be hard to relax being away a few days, wondering if alarm is going off and I’m not even being notified on the Nest app, to handle it. That notification system was the reason I bought this...
