Nest protects going offline

Dobby1

I have nine of these things. They've worked with no issues until the past couple of months. Now seemingly random units go offline.

Perhaps related is that one of my hubs will no longer verbally control my thermostat. The thermostat does show on the hub and can be controlled by touch.

I've "synched all devices", reset my internet (which is 5 gig by the way).

I wish I'd not spent so much money on all this junk. A company as big and successful as Google could have all these things working perfectly I minutes if they wanted.

Hi Dobby1,

Thanks for posting here in the Community forum, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. I'd like to take a look at this for you.

Does your router supports dual bandwith? If yes, please try to connect your Nest Protect to the 2.4 GHz network aside from the 5 GHz network.

Let me know how it goes.

Best,

Zoe

I was able to learn how to disable the 5g radio on my gateway. However, I got this error message:

"When an extender is used, the 5Ghz radio cannot be disabled."

I am using extenders based on at&t recommendation, because several devices weren't getting a good signal despite the space being modest - about 1400ft²

Hey folks,

@Dobby1, thanks for getting back to us. We understand your concern however, the Nest Protects can't be connected to the 5GHz bandwidth and they can only be set up and controlled remotely with the Nest app. Also, have you tried asking AT&T if you can create a separate 2.4GHz bandwidth for your Nest Protect? Looking forward to your response.

I appreciate the help, Zoe.

Regards,

Emerson

Hi Dobby1,

I'm dropping by to ensure that everything is covered here. How's it going with your Nest Protect? Were you able to perform the steps I’m suggesting? We'd be glad to hear from you.

Thanks,
