P014 error when trying to install a Nest Protect

I’m adding a Nest Protect to my existing network of Nest devices and I get an error while adding the new product that the app is having trouble connecting to the assisting Nest Product (a thermostat). The error is P014(0.80). Wifi is up, the Nest app and thermostat are both connected to the same network, I’ve reset the thermostat and the router, tried to add the new product on two different devices, the nest app is up to date, etc. Nothing I’ve tried has worked. Any advice on next step?

Did you figure this out? I’m about to return the protects.

I ended up setting up a second instance of my home and added them as new products without having to use an assisting nest product. No problems adding them in that way.

I had the same issue. Nest devices stays showed a green light and when I tried to connect a new protect device it got hung up trying to connect to an existing device.

I deleted the two protect devices that I had installed, then reinstalled everything from scratch and it worked fine. Took me two hours to figure that out but it’s working fine now.

Hey folks,

Sorry for the delayed response here but thanks for sharing what you did to have your concern resolved MRV and law980. We're glad to hear that you've got your Nest Protect devices working as they should.

MoNaim, I know it's been a while but I wanted to check if you're able to set up your device successfully. Let us know if you still need help.

Best,

Melba

I appreciate the responses but after multiple hours on the phone with support they kept mentioning that it was a bug and there was no fix at the immediate time. I end up returning all six of the end points I had.
