Single False Alarm

I am running 6 Nest Protect(s) (Gen 2) throughout my house.

All have been working faultlessly until last night.

At around 2:15am we were alerted with a heads up "Smoke Detected in the entryway" alert and as expectedly freaked out a little rushing down stairs to find a perfectly calm and event free house.

The alert cleared in less than a minute and the alarm did not sound. Proceeding this when I turned the light off the nightly promise even showed green.

After running another test this morning no issues are showing.

I'm just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar.

What could / would cause a heads up alarm on a single protect, when everyone was asleep and there was most certainly no smoke or vapour / steam in the air.

I keep having the same issue. My nest protect units are going off sometimes in the day sometimes at night. Its getting to point where the alarms are ignored!!! I know that is bad but if there is really an emergency I will not know it because I think its a false alarm. If my family gets hurt due to this issue there may be a class action suit against the manufacturer. So get ready to pay our big bucks if you don't fix this issue. NY requires us to have these products and I should not have to change the batteries or have issues with a product that is meant to protect us.

This has only happened once for me. I have 6 installed and only the one has had a single false alarm.

I would pressure Google to replace your units if they are within a reasonable age of the warrantee.

I am a little relieved to read these posts. Never been on Community before. We too run 6 protects throughout the house. Had them in for about three years and never a blip in the wrong place. Until last night when we were alerted at 0400 to smoke in the bedrooms. After a thorough check of all rooms all was quiet apart from my heart rate that was still pounding at about 200 bpm. So. Glad to see that they do occasionally false alarm. Will monitor for now.

Hello folks,

I'm sorry for the trouble this may have caused — let's see what's going on and why your Nest Protects are giving a false alarm.

I did find a helpful article with some troubleshooting steps for the safety checkup. Please let me know if that helps or if the issue still persists.

Regards,

Mark

Hi Good morning,

Thank you for your e mail. We have not experienced any further issues as yet and have only ever had the 1 false alarm. On that basis, I am happy to close the case at this stage

Thank you for your continued support
