Smoke Detector won't clear alarm

Hi

I have 3 battery powered Protector smoke detectors in my home.

Last month when getting my boiler replaced, the plumber generated alot of dust which set the alarm off.

As a result, I had to take the batteries out of the alarm until work was complete.

However, since then, when ever I put the batteries back in (and even just via the app) it's telling me there is smoke in the kitchen.

I've tried to silence the notification on the app but it won't go away.

I ended up removing the protector from the Nest app.

I tried setting it up today again and still the hardware is telling me there's smoke in the kitchen and the app won't let me silence the message.

Is it possible there's just too much dust in the device or is there a way I can get it working again?

Thanks in advance

Mick

It sounds like the detectors have been contaminated by the dust generated by the plumber's work. Sometimes you can clean the dust out by using canned air or something similar. The only way that I have seen it successfully done is by taking the Protect apart, which isn't recommended.

I have the same issue. Even with the batteries out, the app keeps sending alerts.
