the sticker on the back of the Nest got scratched and part of the QR code is missing and the Entry Key is completely gone, how can i sync it and connect it to the app without those two? i still have the serial number, is there a way to recover the entry key somehow with the serial number?

This was lifted directly from another user (Mr_MacTamais) so I can't take any credit if it works.
1. Plug USB into back of Nest Protect, and connect to your computer or laptop.
2. Hold down the Nest button on the Nest Protect until it attaches to your computer or laptop.
3. Open the device in file explorer and then open the .PLI file.
4. Scroll to the bottom and you should find a 6 digit paring code.
5. You can now set up the Nest Protect manually.

Unfortunately I can’t access the nest to plug a usb into it to do this, it’s too high up now on a 14 foot ceiling, is there no way to recover it with the serial number from nest????

That’s pretty high!! Unfortunately at some point you’d also need to replace batteries as well, so it might be time to invest in (or even borrow!) a ladder so you can have a crack at the USB connection.

@CBL thanks for getting back to us. QR codes and entry keys are unique to each device and we don't have a tracking record for each of them. If you can't scan the QR code or can't see the entry key anymore then connecting your Nest Protect to your computer is your last option.
