Hey friends! I posted about my Nest Protect devices not working as advertised and attempting to get a refund as my return window had closed. My original post is locked otherwise I would update there. See: https://www.googlenestcommunity.com/t5/Nest-Protect/Small-Claims-Action-for-False-Advertising-Non-Fu...
After a lot of back and forth and a lot of time waiting on replies, I was successful in getting a refund from Nest without having to resort to going to small claims court or contacting the FTC. I explained that I had to disable the Nest Protects due to the frequent nuisance alarms and that I had to replace them with a different product in order to both stay safe and comply with state and local laws and regulations. That seemed to be the phrase that helped me the most. It was a lot of work but I stuck with it and didn’t accept “no” from them. The folks I talked to all seemed nice but I think they had to go way up the ladder to finally get that refund pushed through. I first contacted them in February for the initial troubleshooting and got the refund today.
@DanCoco you wanted an update so I wanted to ping ya and let you know I was successful! Thanks for your comments on my original post. I really appreciate it!

Awesone! I'm glad you got refunds! It does sound like a lot of persistance to push each and every support tier to have to escalate and to have them consider if they want to just pay the refund to make "the problem" go away or potentially deal with regulatory agencies.
It's a shame that it takes that much effort to get solutions, almost like the support system is designed to frustrate the end user into giving up.
Experiences like that are what are leading many to de-google their lives and seeing proof that Google removing "Don't be evil" from their terms was more than just words.
