Wires stuck in Google nest protect

We have a nest protect which started beeping loudly as it had expired. Was able to take the batteries out but it continued beeping. Attempted to take the wires out but they are jammed in and completely stuck. Any ideas on how to get them out?

Hi @SB14,

Thanks for reaching out to this community! I understand you have a wired Nest Protect that you're uninstalling to replace because it expired, but in the process, you could only remove the batteries. I'm here to help!

Since you're trying to remove the wires that are stuck, I'd like to offer the following steps that might help you:

  • Turn the power to your Nest Protect off at the breaker box.
  • Remove your Nest Protect from its backplate. Turn it counter clockwise until it comes loose.
  • Detach the power connector.
  • Push the battery door button in the direction of the arrow. The door springs open.
  • Replace all of the batteries with new Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA batteries (L91). Be sure to match the positive "+" and negative "-" ends of the batteries with the markings in the battery compartment.
  • Close the battery door. It clicks into place. For your safety, the battery door doesn't close until all 3 batteries are inserted.
