Is it still possible to install an older - never used - nest protect?
Got as far as installing app but can't find the network listed in the app. Also test failed, even though batteries are all fine.

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I'm sorry to hear about the situation. Let me take a look at this for you.
A few questions: are you setting up your Nest Protect via the Nest app or the Google Home app? Have you seen any error messages on the app as you try to set up the Nest Protect? Also, have you performed a Safety Checkup on your Nest Protect? If not, press the Nest button on a Protect. The blue light should turn on, and it will speak to you. When it says "Press to test", press the button a second time.

I was trying to set up the Nest via the Nest app. It asks me to Connect to the Wi-Fi network named NEST-6DE5, but that doesn't show up among my networks in my settings. When I do the test, it says 'test failed'.

Hi there,
Thanks for the follow-up. Is the battery that you have on your Nest Protect the battery that came along with it? If it is, please try to replace the batteries of your Nest Protect with Energizer Ultimate Lithium AA (L91) batteries so that we can effectively verify that the batteries are fine since the Nest Protect was purchased years ago and was never used. Then, reset your Nest Protect by following the steps in this guide. After that, perform one last Safety Checkup on your Nest Protect and let me know how it goes.
