factory reset to defaults on nest protect gen 2/btty operated does not work --> what next?

factory reset to defaults on nest protect does not work [seems confirmed from multiple posts on the support forum].

i have 2 nest protect 2nd gen/btty operated [version 3.0.5.3], manufactured 2021/sept 04 - replace by 2031/sept 04, serial #: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ntwk name: NEST-A2EF entry key 3FPSTL and serial #: XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX ntwk name: NEST-A61A entry key R0HPRU

  1. the normal ...press the button, wait, erase, and then use the NEST iPhon app to scan barcode does not work

 - the iPhone attempts to pair, it identifies the home network (only 2.4ghz is enabled on my home network), but after a minute or so, it says the terrible 'try again', and pops P006(3.10) error message

 - researching P006(3.10), which suggests 'pairing error', confirms what is known but provides no correction as reset to factory default does not work

 - NOTE: both devices worked fine for 2yrs and stopped after a  router upgrade

  1. the method with ...no scanning..., enter the ntwk name, etc does not work either, the NEST ntwk if it is supposed to work is not found by the NEST iPhon app.

SO, WHAT NOW?

is there a fix? a replacement to request? or is there some procedure to use the microUSB port to reset the device via a PC?

since this seems a common issue, and an engineering oversight, it is just 'code', so can we please explore a resolution?

thanks

Hi Rny1nestcom,

Thank you for posting in the community, I'm sorry to hear that you're unable to set up your Nest Protect for the error message P006(3.10).

To help me find the best solution, I'll need to ask you a few questions:

  • When did the inconvenience start?
  • Did the Nest protect say something when you did the factory reset?
  • Did the Nest protect work before?

In the mean time, please do these steps below:

Keep me posted.

Best regards,

Rusell.
