3rd Gen Thermostat will not pair with Link no matter what I try!

I'm sure I have tried everything, but I cannot get the 3rd Gen Thermostat to connect to the 3rd Gen Heat Link.

I've never got this working personally, the system come with the house when I bought it and it was already factory reset. I know it was working for the previous owner before he reset it though.

Now, the Link just pulses blue, I believe that means its ready to pair, but no matter what I do the Thermostat just won't find the link and the H71 error remains.

To clarify, the Heat Link is slowly pulsing blue, I have never ever seen a yellow or green light, only pulsing blue. Here is what I have tried:

1. Held down the Heat Link button for 20+ seconds, the light goes out, then pulses blue fast and it is factory reset.
2. Selected the reset pairing option on the Thermostat.
3. Selected the check again option on the Thermostat.
4. Selected the change heat link option and entered the code on the bottom of the heat link
5. Held down the Thermostat screen for 10+ seconds to reboot that
6. Reset the Thermostat and entered all details again
7. Tried with WiFi off
8. Tried with WiFi on
9. Had the Thermostat right close to the heat link and powered the whole time

I've tried all the above and in numerous orders multiple times. But no matter what, the blue light always pulses slowly blue and the thermostat just cannot pair with the heat link and remains on the H71.

Anything else I can try? Happy to try anything now.

Thanks

Well I can see everyone has come rushing to your aid!!!!!!!!!!!

Where are you mods??????

The reason for not pairing could be a none matched pair. Do you see the screen with H71, look in Tech, and go to Heat Link. Check the 6 digit number shown there. Does it match the number on your Heat Link, which will be seen by the left hand fixing screw? You will have to remove the cover, and when you do, look by the cover screw and you will see a 6 digit number there also. Do all the 3 numbers match?

Let me know and we can go from there.

PS. You may not have tried everything!

Hi there @keogh and thanks for reaching our Community. I'm sorry you're facing this issue, but I'll do my best to sort it out for you. Since you have the H71 error, please try the following troubleshooting steps in the order presented:

Turn off the WiFi router.

1. Reset the Heat Link by keeping the button on it pressed for 30 seconds until the LED goes slowly pulsing blue.
2. Take the thermostat off the base and give it a restart, off the base by holding the display and the back of the thermostat pressed for 10-12 seconds. (Hamburger reset)
3. While the thermostat is restarting, do not put it back on the base yet, but instead, reset the Heat Link again just like before.
4. After the Heat Link is reset, put the thermostat back on the base when it asks you to do so on the screen.
5. Go to: Replace Heat Link (underneath the H71 error code) and enter the 6 character entry key from the Heat Link, but do not connect just yet.
6. Restart the Heat Link twice (1 restart is a 10 seconds press, until the LED goes off once).
7. Press connect on the display.
