AWAY mode does not stop heating schedule, continues to turn on heating even though no one in house.

AWAY mode should trigger ECO which then prevents heating including whatever schedule heating set previously in app.

I have been on holiday all week. I set Nest to AWAY. But it has been turning on heating all week because previously I had set a heating schedule on app.

This is totally against the spirit of the Nest AWAY ECO mode which claims to only switch on when temps fall below the minimum temp setting 9.5C. That is not true if user has set a heating schedule at some point in past.

how can this be? It’s a big fault in the logic of software. If you have a heating schedule there appears no way to stop heating when you are in AWAY mode and nobody in house. 
please help with a solution. I’m shocked how basic functionality the Nest has if this is the case.

 help desk says because previously a schedule was added on App (long time ago)  this overrides and turns on heating despite being in AWAY and ECO mode

5:02:08 PM David: This can be useful if you want to try to save more energy while you’re at home, and you don’t mind it being a bit cooler or warmer than usual.

5:03:31 PM David: Home/Away Assist uses input from activity sensors in your Nest products managed in the Nest app and your phone’s location to automatically switch the behavior of Nest products in your home when you leave and when you come back.

Thanks for reaching out. I'm sorry for the delay and for the trouble this may have caused you. Could you please go to your actual Nest Thermostats Settings, then select Home/Away Assist and see if it's set to Yes? Also, go to the Nest web app and check your energy History there.

Home away set to yes.

After last call phone was set to yes but my phone to no.I left the house at 11am and left my son there. The thermosuat went to away at 3pm but did not go to eco mode (see attachments) but continued to preset schedule. On Tue display showed no activity but when expanded it shows on schedule.
 
The house is empty from tomorrow for a week.
I will manually switch to away.
