I am installing a nest thermostat, but when I test the system the ac blows hot air.
my old system only has 5 wires: yellow, blue, white, green, red.

Do you have a picture of the original thermostat wiring that you can post?
There is no standard on what the different wire colors do, so you can't just go by that.

I don’t have a picture, but I did write it down…
Y- yellow
c- blue
w- white
g- green
rc- red
jumper between r and rc

Hello folks,
I wanted to stop by and see how I could help.
Thanks for lending a hand, @Patrick_Caezza.
@Ngreenhalgh, I appreciate you sharing the photos. It appears to be a heat pump issue you're experiencing. To be sure, what type of HVAC system do you have? Is this a conventional type with heating and cooling only or a heat pump? Also, could you share with us the make and model of your HVAC system?
I'll look forward to your response.
Regards,
Mark
