Hello Yssim918,

I'm sorry to hear about the issues that you're having when trying to set up and control your Nest Thermostat. I'm happy to help.

You can easily remove the display from its base; just simply pull it off the wall, and you can reattach it easily. Just make certain that it clicks into place.

If you have the Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E. You can add the thermostat to the Nest App by either entering the code or scanning the QR code. You can find this in the thermostat settings themselves; just go to the Nest App option. Make sure to reconnect first your thermostat to your Wi-Fi network.

Please have a look at this article and let us know if you need more help.

Best regards,

Mark

I don't see "Nest App" option to "Get Entry Code" on my Nest Thermostat E.  How do I get code from working/installed thermostat? The Nest App gives this same instruction but Thermostat E no longer has that menu item.

Hi CLBme,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd love to help. To get the Entry Key from the Nest Thermostat E, go to Settings then just turn the ring until you find the word "Nest App".

You can follow the steps here:

  1. Press your thermostat ring to open the Quick View menu.
  2. Choose Settings.
  3. Turn the ring to the Nest app and press the ring to select it.
  4. Select Get Entry Key to retrieve a unique entry key.

Best,

Jenelyn

Discovered not Nest Thermostat E. It's 1st generation Nest Thermostat. Had to do factory reset to add back into Google Home. Was tricky as Google Support did not know wiring specific to my system which has heat pump with 6 wires so gave incorrect information. So a lot of trial and error. Got thermostat back into Google Home with correct wiring to Nest Thermostat. LESSON learned. DO NOT DO FACTORY RESET AT INSTRUCTION of Google support unless you know your specific wiring. If you don’t know your wiring, do at own risk.

I had nightmare experience with Google support. Required me to do factory reset. Then didn't know wiring specific to my install. Took couple days research to figure out wire assignment for thermostat. Lesson learned. Don't do factory reset at direction of Google Support. My system back up and running with thermostat reconnect to Nest account.

I accidentally removed my Nest Thermostat E from Nest App and Google Home App. So now says "Account Disconnected" on my Thermostat E. The instructions on how to "Get Entry Code" to reconnect account in my Nest App are wrong.   There is no such menu option under settings on my Thermostat E and no "Nest App" option on thermostat. I do not want to remove Thermostat as it is working fine and connected to WiFi. I need to add it back to Nest App and the Google Home App.  So how do add it back without removing thermostat from wall?
