Anticipating problems with Nest Migration to Google Account

VTallman

I have read the notices and the steps for migration seem simple ... but:

1)  I see multiple messages on the forums indicating problems various users are having with migration.  It seems that there are too many unanswered questions.

2) We have spent a fair amount of time "tuning" our heat and A/C schedules to our HVAC equipment and our personal needs.  Are these schedules going to survive the migration.  The information provided by Google seems to void of mentions regarding existing settings for one's current Nest thermostat.

3)  Follow-up .. if migration problems occur, how likely is it that I will need to reset my Nest thermostat, thus losing all existing settings?

4)  I just want a smart thermostat to control my heating and cooling.  I do not want to expand it's capabilities, nor share additional information with Alphabet.  Is there a place to read about privacy concerns REGARDING THE NEST MIGRATION, and limiting the data that Google can collect?

Thank you.

Migrating shouldn't affect your thermostat schedule or settings. Not sure if you've seen this or not but there's a detailed page that has lots of answers to questions like this which I'll link below.
