Are Gen 3 baseplates interchangeable?

Background

Im trying to move my Gen 3 Learning thermostat to a new location, but want to leave the existing baseplate where it is (I'm worried about my ability to leave the exposed wires safe if I remove the baseplate). So instead, I'm thinking to buy a second baseplate to then attach to the Nest Stand I already have.

Question

Are Nest Gen 3 Learning thermostat baseplates interchangeable? As in, if I buy one like this, will it work with my thermostat or are they tied to the specific thermostat please?
