Battery low, not charging

Furnace was shut off for couple days.   Nest battery drained.   Tried charging and still not able to connect to wifi.   Keeps shutting down.   Can internal battery be completely drained and unable to charge after just 2 days of no power?

Hi Needresponse25,

Thanks for posting. I'm sorry to hear about the situation that you are experiencing with your Nest Thermostat, which was draining the battery and is not charging. And also, I understand that due to this situation, your Nest Thermostat keeps shutting down the furnace. Don't worry; help is here. I need to ask for some information to determine the best solution:

  • What type of Nest Thermostat do you have? You can check the "How to tell which Nest thermostat you have" article to find out.
  • When did the issue first occur?
  • Was the Nest Thermostat recently installed?
  • Are you getting any error code on the app or on the Nest Thermostat device?
  • Are the power breakers on, and do you receive power to your home?
  • Is the thermostat's display seated properly?
  • Are all the wires of your thermostat seated firmly in its terminals (with no loose or exposed wires)?
  • What color is the LED on the Nest Thermostat?
  • What is your country of residence?
  • Have you tried any steps to solve the situation?

Please keep me posted.

Best regards,

Jenny
