My thermostat keeps turning itself off and has green flashing light, will come back on itself 23-48 hours later, but it’s happening more, how can I fix this?

Hello Shelly1279,

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your inquiry. I'd love to help.

There are possible reasons why the Nest Thermostat is not holding a charge, such as the thermostat's installation or wire setup being incorrect, an unstable Wi-Fi connection, having issues with the power from your system, or insufficient power from your HVAC. To isolate, could you share a photo of your current thermostat's wiring? Also, you could try the steps in this article and let us know if that helps.

Regards,

Mark

Hi, I’ve had trouble replying to this, it’s currently off again, for the last 2 days again, flashing green, if I hold it down for so long it starts flashing red, mine isn’t on the base and is plugged in with phone cable all the time, which has been fine, but I have got base out and put it on it to take back off, I don’t have a nest charging cable for it? I’ve had it quite a while, but I must never of had one, it’s not attached to wall. It usually comes back on itself but is happening every week now.

Hey there,

Thanks for getting back to us, @Shelly1279. I'm sorry to hear the issue still persists, and I appreciate you trying to find a fix. Let's find out more about what happened.

  • Were there any recent HVAC maintenance or power outages that happened before the issue occurred?
  • Does it have a C wire connected to its base?
  • Please gather its power readouts from your thermostat's technical info settings.
  • Look for any wiring reports or message codes, such as in the network or equipment settings.
  • Remove the thermostat display from its base and check if any connector pins are bent.
  • Ensure that the wires are connected properly.

Please keep me posted on how it goes.

Regards,

Mark
