Bug with Nest Thermostat and Rush Hour

PLLEsq

Is anyone else having a glitch when the Rush Hour begins on their thermostat? Its happened two days in a row so I'm sure it's a software issue. When rush hour begins, my thermostat crashes and factory resets. I have to resetup the whole thing. Delete the product from my app and add it again.

Anyone have a solution?

I'm having the same issue. Last 2 days when sce runs a rush hour it resets the thermostat. I think it's when the rush hour is over but not sure. I want to just resync the thermostat with my account but it makes me delete and re-add which means I have to redo my schedule each time.

How many of you signed up for the renew recently? Thats the only change I have made. I went to renew and turned off the settings to allow it to adjust the temp setting. I have to wait until the next rush hour to see if it helps though.

Hey all,

I am sorry to hear you are having issues with your device during the rush hour times. I know this is not an ideal situation. I wanted to follow up with you, and see if I could be of any help. I found an article that has more details on the rush hour program. Please let me know if that helps out, or if you have any questions from here.

Best regards,

Jake

had an event yesterday with no issues. I will likely try to connect renew again and see if the next event is error free.

I did not change anything, I am still enrolled in the (free) Nest Renew program. I had two Rush Hour events last week, and it appeared my thermostat stayed on. It did not perform a factory reset during the pre-cooling stage of the Rush Hour event, like it had done in three (yes, 3) previous events. So that's good.

I checked, and my thermostat's firmware version is the same as it was before, so no updates have been pushed.

Could this be a fault of my utility company? Do they have some software they are using which sent out the "reset" message instead of the "rush_hour" message to my thermostat?

Hi asdf3,

Thanks for the reply.

When your Nest Thermostat is in Rush Hour mode, it shouldn't reset or restart. It will stay on and provide you with a message of what is going on. Also, the update for your Nest Thermostat should happen automatically. Once an update is available for your thermostat to download, it will happen through over-the-air update process and install it for you.

Check out this Rush Hour reward article for more information.

Ryan
