Confirming Compatibility

Good morning,

Following the recommendations provided, I have posted a photo regarding my current thermostat wiring. I have purchased a Nest Thermostat and it worked great through the summer season. Last night was our first night of needing heat and the Nest could not access the heater. I’m guessing the Nest Thermostat is incompatible with my systems? Can you confirm? Thanks!

Which model of thermostat is it that you have?

How to tell which Nest thermostat you have - Google Nest Help

It’s currently a T701 from Pro1.

And the Nest Thermostat I have is just the basic, not the learning model or “E” model

Your system should be compatible with that model of thermostat. How do you have it wired up?

2 things to note:

  • Nest Thermostats don't use jumper wires, so don't connect that.
  • That model of thermostat is designed to work without a common ("C") wire in most homes. During installation, a small number of customers may find that the Nest Thermostat does not receive sufficient power. The Nest Power Connector or a C wire may be necessary. See g.co/nest/cwire for details.
