Connecting Nest Thermostat

Billdash

Hi folks. Installed my Nest thermostat just fine, except it only blew heat on my heat pump. Reinstalled the old thermostat and confirmed the HVAC works fine. Removed the Neat Thermostat from my Google Home and went through complete

steps to add new device again. (Noticed that I might have selected the O wire configuration instead of the B wire configuration which looks correct given closer inspection- so I hope this solves my cooling ilissue). BUT, after getting it all set up, when I try to do the app connection to the thermostat, it won’t connect (this part worked fine originally)

anyone have a clue how to get my app to connect to the unit and get added

to my account?

Stumbled into this, but if you are reinstalling from a device that had successfully connected before, you have to go into the thermostat settings on the device and erase the previous data. Once you do that, it will reconnect.

seems my configuration is still wrong somehow. Will not engage the AC. I guess that’s a new post

Post a picture of the original thermostat's wiring here.

I use an iPhone and the Google Home app has you take a picture of the original thermostat wiring, which I did. However, it doesn’t put it in the photos library. I could never find it in the app later either, which is nuts because I would have been happy to just toggle out of the app to take the picture separately, but I assumed the app would save the photo for me. I read on Reddit that others have the same issue. On a Google phone, the photo is apparently available in the Gallery, but there is no such thing on an iPhone. I did take a picture of the wiring after I reset it on the previous thermostat and confirmed it worked still (thankfully)

Patrick, you are already responding to my separate question, but I wanted to perhaps give feedback to the IOS team on the Google Home app that it isn’t clear how you access the photo. Thanks

Hey Billdash,

Thanks for reaching out and for sharing this to the community.

We've posted a reply to your other post about OB wire orientation and I think that is already resolved.

Also, we appreciate you sending your feedback on the Google Home app when saving or accessing photos. You can also share your thoughts by sending your feedback by following the complete guide here.

Thanks for your help, Patrick_Caezza.

Best,

Ryan
