Connecting thermostat to internet

I have tried to install my Nest thermostat E and I am unable to link it to my internet, the thermostat is fully powered and just shows the nest symbol and briefly starts to connect and then stops. I do not have an issue with my internet as everything else works.

Hello VY,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing a setup issue with your new Nest Thermostat E. I'd be happy to take a look into this for you.

To isolate:

  1. Please check all the connected wires.
    1. Remove the thermostat display from the base.
    2. Check that all of the wires on the thermostat are fully inserted.
    3. The connector button should stay in a pressed-down state on any connectors that have wires in them. If not, remove the wire and check the tip.
    4. If the tip has corrosion, is bent, or has less than 1/3 inch of copper exposed, straighten and/or re-strip the end of the wire.
    5. Press the connector button and re-insert the wire. Push the wire in as far as it goes. Make sure the button stays in a pressed-down state. This indicates that the customer properly seated the wire.
  2. Reseat the thermostat display.
  3. Restart the thermostat.
    1. Press and hold the screen for 10 seconds until it shuts down to restart.

Please let me know if that helps, or if the issue still persists.

Regards,
Mark
