I bought a brand new third gen learning Nest thermostat over a year ago. I didn't install it at the time due to finances. I saved enough to have a HVAC company install it. He tells me he isn't able to install it as the battery isn't working. I am ready to cry as I waited so long that I am probably out of warranty fro. the date I purchased it. I believe I bought it directly from Nest. Would they be able to search the SN to search if I bought it from them? It was very expensive and can't purchase another one right now without a loan. Anyone have the same issue with the unit battery? I am so upset and disappointed. I should just be thankful I have heat and a roof over my head.

The Nest Learning thermostat has a rechargeable battery inside. If you look at the back of the Nest, it has a micro-USB charging port. You can connect any standard phone charger there and let it charge overnight and try again.
