I am trying to transfer my Nest thermostat to Google home and I keep getting an error that reads  " Connection issue. Youc an only connect Works with Nest to homes owned by you".  I own this home and the thermostat has only ever been at that this address. Please someone tell me that they have a fix for this. I have gone down this rabbit hole and verified my email etc ect ect and to no avail.

When you say "I am trying to transfer my Nest thermostat to Google home", what do you mean? There really is no such thing. The "Works with Nest" and "Works with Google" options are for connecting non-Google Nest devices to a Google Nest "home/structure".

If you have a Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E installed in the Google Nest app, they should automatically appear in the Google Home app if you are logging onto both apps with the same Google Account and accessing the same Google Nest "home/structure".

If you have a Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E installed in the Google Nest app and are still logging into the Google Nest app with a non-gmail account and have not migrated your Nest Account to a Google Account, then you need to do so to see your thermostat in the Google Home app. See this Help topic:

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9297676

If you have just done this migration and are not seeing your Nest Learning Thermostat or Nest Thermostat E in the Google Home app, this has happened to other customers in this forum, who have tried this workaround:

1) Go to the Google Nest app and create a new, temporary Google Nest "home/structure".

2) Go to that empty Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app and delete it. This seems to force the two apps to sync, thereby causing the thermostat to appear in the Google Home app.

Hi. Thank you for this information. The nest thermostat was not a google product when it was purchased and due to nest no longer supporting the thermostat I am trying to migrate it to google. I accessed the "migrate now" link and verfied the email The emails for thermostat and the home app are all gmail accounts and are all the same email.  I just cant get it to migrate so haven't gone any further..

We are trying to migrate our Nest devices into our Google Home account.

We are in the Google Home app, go to Devices, add a new device, Click Works with Google, search for Nest, select Nest, sign in to our Nest Account with the Login and PW.

It then gives us the Error:

Connection Issue

You can only connect Works with Nest to homes owned by you.

It says the two houses that I own are not owned by me.  How do I rectify this?

You might want to contact Support, using the link and instructions in this post:

I don't know how you would set up a non-Google Nest thermostat in the Google Home app using "Works with Google", but there is this Help topic (and another one below):

https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/9293712

If you have other Google Nest devices in the Google Nest app and have gone into the Google Nest app and selected Settings | Account | Migrate to a Google Account, note that you cannot migrate to a Google Account that is already being used for other Google Nest devices; you'll get a "Google Account is already linked with another Nest account" error. If this is what happened to you, see the section in the link I provided above for what you can do.

Note, however, that the process of migrating a Nest Account to a Google Account only migrates Google Nest devices. For your thermostat, the best you can hope for is to use the "Works with Google" option; maybe this Help topic will help with that; I believe your thermostat has to be certified as "Works with Google":

So the acount has migrated but my nest is not showing up in the google home app. I have tried the work around

1) Go to the Google Nest app and create a new, temporary Google Nest "home/structure".

2) Go to that empty Google Nest "home/structure" in the Google Home app and delete it. This seems to force the two apps to sync, thereby causing the thermostat to appear in the Google Home app.

and it is still not showing up.

@tlocke

Try contacting Support using the link I provided earlier.

I really can't tell what thermostat you have. You say "nest no longer supporting the thermostat" but I'm not aware of Google Nest withdrawing support for any Google Nest thermostats.
