The device is connected and functions, however near the end of setup I get an Home Address error screen. Then when I go into the device to change the temp. It tells me that it was not fully setup and I need to remove it and start over. This is so frustrating.

I'd like to check if you're still getting the same error when you're setting up your Nest Thermostat. If yes, try to restart your mobile phone and reconnect to the Wi-Fi. Make sure no pending updates are available for the app.
