Google Heat Link Replacement - Scam email ?

AntonyMee

Hi all

i received the following email yesterday, after receiving another similar one a few days ago. It suggests that my 'out of warranty' heatlink needs replacing and directs me to book online with a company called BOXT.

Im suspicious that it might be a scam, anyone have any ideas ??

Your thermostat’s Heat Link is eligible for a replacement by Nest
Nest detected that your thermostat's Heat Link disconnected at 01:00:00 GMT.
If you turned the Heat Link off, or if there was a power outage, this disconnection would be expected. However, if your home unexpectedly lost heat or hot water, this disconnection may be due to an issue with your Heat Link.
To schedule a no-cost replacement, please visit our dedicated website and enter case number 9-4156719694300.
We don’t advise repairing or uninstalling the device on your own. You can contact Nest Support by calling 44(0) 808 169 2307 or visiting the Help Center if you have additional questions.

Not seen that one, but if your Heat Link is working, why not just delete the message again?

Thanks for reaching out to us here @AntonyMee . If possible please take a screenshot of the email so we can see it exactly but not to worry. These kind of emails are sent out if there is a disconnection from the Heat Link.

In the UK region we have a partnership with BOXT to provide replacements for Heat Links. In cases where the display detects a disconnection or power drop from the Heat Link and email may be sent out to let you know about this and the option to schedule an appointment with BOXT.

Now this does not mean that something is wrong with the Heat Link, it can be just a small disconnection, power fluctuation or a temporary power cut.

If you do notice the email, just check on your system. If everything is ok, you can ignore it. If you do notice your Heat Link has no LED on it you can use the information in the system to contact BOXT or get in touch with us on any support channel.
