Nest thermostat connects to WiFi
Google app is on WiFi
Why can't the app find the thermostat?
This thing is useless
What alternative to Nest do you recommend?
The nest is no better than the old mechanical thermostats

Hey NestinDenver,
Sorry to hear about your Nest thermostat and I understand how you feel. I want to check on this further.
A few questions — what type of Nest thermostat is this? Has it worked before with your Nest app? If yes, were there recent changes made on your mobile device, the account it is linked to, and the actual thermostat settings before this started happening? Also, could you provide a rundown of the steps you've already tried so we could pick up from where you've left off?
Best,
Melba

Melba,
There is no Nest app, the directions say to use the Google Home app. Initially, the Nest connected to WiFi and power fine. Unfortunately the Google app never saw the Nest.
Worse than that, the Nest is very difficult to adjust manually. Touch the Nest to adjust the temperature, and it goes in to set up mode, or turns the heat function off.
The Nest also had preprogrammed settings already set, so the Nest will randomly go to economy mode and set the temperature to 57 degrees.
Then, the Nest started to intermittently disconnect from WiFi. I work at home, so I have excellent WiFi, and my iPhone 13 works with all the other devices I have.
After a very frustrating 3 weeks, I returned the Nest to Home Depot and got a simpler, non WiFi thermostat. Finally the heat is back on in my house.
