Hey guys,

My google nest was just installed today and I put my ac on and it started blowing hot air. Is this normal? If not, how do I fix it?

Hi Pati_P,

Thanks for reaching out. I'd like to take a closer look at it. A few questions: what type of Nest Thermostat do you have? In what country are you located? Do you see any messages or codes on your thermostat or in the app? Please take a photo of the wires connected to your thermostat and to your system's control board. Ensure that the labels of the wires are visible.

Best,

Jenelyn

Hello, I think I have a similar issue.

Installed Gen3 Nest Learning Thermostat when in cool mode only heat blows out. Put back original thermostat and HVAC works fine. Below is Honeywell wiring.

Nest Thermostat wiring configured as Blue on C, Red on Rc, Orange on W1, Yellow on Y, Green on G, and White on W2. Orange wire is on conventional side instead of heat pump side is this why cool mode blowing hot air?

What did I do wrong? How do I wire my Nest Thermostat correctly?

Should the Nest Thermostat wiring configured as Blue on C, Red on Rc, Orange on O/B, Yellow on Y, Green on G, and White on W1?

Hi Giszmo69,

Thanks for posting, and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing the same issue. Kindly move the orange wire from W1 to OB, and then let us know if the same issue still persists.

Thanks,

Zoe

Leave the White wire in W2 or move it to W1?

Hi there,

I'm sorry for the confusion—leave the white wire W2 AUX and move the orange wire from W1 to OB, as that orange wire is your heat pump wire and the reason why heat blows while the thermostat is in cool mode.

Regards,

Zoe
